Charlotte Hatherley Grey Will Fade Cover Art Dido Life for Rent Album Art

  1. Yes, someone wanted the warehouse infinite and dumped, (donated), them without any regard to potential retail value, peradventure fifteen years ago lots of sealed Peter Gabriel LPs started turning upwards here, people were going into shops and selling them 25 count boxes including sealed Us imports, I grabbed a spare re-create of "Passion" and a "Birdy" every bit that was all I was interested in, I recall the shops were buying them for £ane or £2 each, I think they cost me £4 in my local and they had loads of copies. I did some investigating and it turned out someone at Real World had had a clear out and donated all Gabriel's returned stock to our local Scrapstore a clemency that recycles materials for kids and schools to apply for art projects so people were going in and getting boxes of sealed LPs for a couple of quid, kind of wish I'd grabbed a few more than "Passions".

  2. I've a pile that need further llistening before sleeving and filing, maybe 20-30. I call back my backlog is and so big because I similar to play a CD quite a lot before putting it away. And considering at some automobile boots I've hitting a good seam of jazz or something, and bought 12 or 18 CDs from one person!
  3. Indeed, it's time to scoop them up, whether they can exist played immediately or non.

Your figure makes me feel a lot amend, Mart, thank you! :)

Went to nine(!) charity shops today and bought just one CD: Whaler by Sophie B. Hawkins for 50p. (Did observe some books and DVDs, though.)

  5. My lad just knocked a 3CD fatbox off my desk-bound and broke the central section :realmad: I have quite a few broken fatboxes at present, and need some cheap replacements.

This got my wondering - what's the charity shop lowest-mutual-denominator in fatbox form? The equivalent of Robbie Williams' Life Thru a Lens, something they can't fifty-fifty give away, where throwing out the discs and inlays would be a public service.

I occasionally see old fatbox Now! albums at my local, but I kind of feel they're fourth dimension capsules that deserve to exist kept intact.

  6. If information technology makes yous feel whatever better, I think I'm upward to about 200. There was a time when I was going to several charity shops every lunchtime and buying more than CDs than I could listen to. Lots of jazz and "this looks interesting" finds that I withal demand to wade through.
  7. There are some I used to encounter often, can't think what they are, possibly Reader's Digest, the other selection would be some Classical or talking books, yet encounter both in Fatboxes at boot sales.
Dave South and Human being at C&A like this.
  8. That's not being a saddo. Delight exercise mail service the listing!
  9. The virtually common unwanted creative person in the racks today was Keane. They may even have eclipsed Dido.

The biggest disappointment of the morning was finding Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue in the RSPCA shop, only to find that the disc inside the box was actually a Harry Potter DVD. E'er worth checking. I was tempted to become through the DVDs looking for the Potter box just in instance Dennis was inside, but at that place were too many films to check – with many at flooring level – and I was running out of energy past this point.

I did observe a big Bing Crosby section in All Aboard, but left them for a fan.

  10. I'yard pretty sure Robbie beats them both. I've seen almost of Robbie's discography several times over in the same charity shop.

I feel your pain on that Dennis Wilson disc.

  11. That's e'er a killer when y'all see something decent on the shelf, pull it out to accept a look at it and i of the discs is missing or it's the wrong i in the example.
  12. Some atrocious vinyl pricing found by @Misterquartet on Twitter

The ones I was nearly pleased well-nigh:
    — Zappa's 'Road Tapes' and the Steve Reich I found together in BHF on Shepherds Bush-league Road ane Saturday afternoon when I could have gone to picket Leyton Orient v Barrow. Proficient choice, I think we (Barrow) got hammered.
    — Jo Jo Gunne, which even though information technology turns out to be not that good, was something I e'er wanted to buy on LP back in the mean solar day, but there was always something I wanted more than.
    — The Randy Newman tribute album, 'Sheet Away' which, beingness a big fan, I always wanted to purchase but expected to have to pay Amazon £xiv for.
    — Todd Rundgren's 'The Individualist'. I'chiliad a huge TR fan too, but couldn't afford to buy many CDs in the 1990s when this was released so had never heard it. Really practiced album too. I retrieve I bought the Dan's 'Can't Purchase a Thrill' at the aforementioned fourth dimension.
    — Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' with the bonus disc; a digipak in absolutely pristine condition.
    — The 'Magnolia' soundtrack which I just bought to make upwardly a 'iii for the price of two' offer, and thus made me an accidental simply very grateful Aimee Mann fan.
    — The deluxe edition of 'What's Going On' which I only got because I'd schlepped over to S London to buy Mrs KG a Xmas present that I could just detect at a store in that location and nipped into the ane clemency shop between the station and the store.
    — The four sealed digipak Journey CDs that I got for £1 at the tail end of a school fair. I don't like to recall of all the goodies that had been snapped up before that.
    — Vanessa Daou's 'Zipless'. Bit of a synchronicity virtually that 1. In that location was a thread hither about the sexiest song ever written and somebody posted the cover of 'Zipless'. I think it was either the side by side twenty-four hour period or the day after that, that I saw it in the local Oxfam.
    — The Flanders and Swann boxset which I'll probably never play in total over again, but it's nice when a track pops up on shuffle on my iPod.

  14. Wow! Alviin Lucier, Sun Ra, Soft Automobile and Terry Riley. Never seen whatever of those in a chazzer.
  15. It would be just the one time. Vaguely remember seeing 'A Rainbow in Curved Air' one other time.
  16. Aside from the ubiquitous Mr Williams and Dido, I take found the complete "Texas" discography in almost all chazzas. Is this a geographical oddity (I'm in Glasgow), or is the pattern observed nationwide?
  17. Nice 'N' Cheapo does it every time...

50p 'T'was sitting there in between the boring has beens.

  19. [IMG]

Joni Mitchell - Complete Geffen Recordings iv CD box set, box is a lilliputian worn around edges merely otherwise fine and a snip at £2.00.

  20. A local shop had some new CDs in. Very strange prices. Original anthology series box sets were iii pounds and single CDs were between three and five pounds. A scrap much for second hand.
  21. Today'southward simply notice was talking somebody out of a Sounds of the Universe tote bag, they were in a local shop buying something I'd released so that bankrupt the water ice and they very kindly let me have their bag, they didn't fifty-fifty appear to find me weird for asking, though even I think I'm getting a bit as well excited about finding bags.
  22. Care to name and shame the shop in question? .oO
(I bet a hapless customer volition bite at some point.)
  23. Overnice find today, the Stax & Trojan sets was £one.fifty each and are both sealed, the 'Monkey Business concern' 2 CD Trojan fix was £1 and is also sealed.

The awesome 'Future Noir The Making Of Blade Runner' was 50p. :)

  24. Fairly slim pickings at the car kick, merely came away with one CD and some Asterix books.

The CD sounds pretty great - all 12" mixes, well mastered by Ted Jensen. I hear the united nations-messed-with version of the MacArthur Park Suite is hard to find on digital.

Dear those yellow face up Casablanca discs.
